INDUSTRY: Graphic Design | Focus: Branding, Typography, Art Direction
Working closely with the President of the Graduate Students' Union at Trinity College Dublin, I created communication designs for both digital and print. The approach taken was to reflect upon the university's architecture and colour palette. Significantly, designs featured an updated icon of Trinity’s beloved Campanile, now enclosed within the silhouette of Trinity’s Front Arch – the same view a student would have when entering the campus .
The redesign of the TCD Graduate Students’ Union logo was centred around the 1853 Campanile in Front Square. Modernising the previous logo involved simplifying its geometry, with a focus on parallel lines and curvature inspired by the campus architecture. Subtle adjustments of a similar nature were made to key letters in the logo text. These refinements create a familiar typeface with bespoke enhancements, particularly effective when used in display format.
